Mexcel Reference Line
Unmatched precision and clarity of sound – the contrast between the crisp, direct signal and the smooth ambience reveals a rich range of expression. The power and overwhelming sense of scale are so vivid that you can almost see the real instruments being played right before your eyes. The Mexcel Reference Line is Esoteric’s top-of-the-line cable series, reflecting a deep sense of pride in its sonic performance. It features a 2.0mm-thick solid-core Mexcel center conductor, delivering unwavering energy in the mid-to-low range. The 3-layer shielding, an ultra-thin rectangular Mexcel braid, copper Mylar tape, and a thick silver-coated copper braid, enhances the signal-to-noise ratio and provides thorough noise protection.
Mexcel Cable Technology – “Gigahertz Flat” Transmission
The main feature of Mexcel cables is their uniform impedance, which remains stable even up to the GHz band, allowing for the transmission of signals with consistent impedance.
Mexcel utilizes conductor material technology based on the Medis electrodeposition insulation method, a manufacturing process similar to electroplating for insulating resin. This innovative technique ensures uniform insulation regardless of shape – including flat wires, which are traditionally difficult to insulate around the corners.
By insulating the surface of the wire, the conductor area is maximized, effectively preventing the attenuation of high-frequency characteristics caused by the skin effect. As a result, we have achieved wide-range “Gigahertz Flat” transmission characteristics.
“Gigahertz Flat” Transmission
Flat transmission characteristics up to the gigahertz band (1GHz = 1 billion Hz) allow digital signals to be transmitted with accurate waveforms without distortion. In analog transmission, this technology ensures flat frequency characteristics across the entire audible band, contributing to extremely fast attack and beautiful decay.
Achieving 99.99999% purity, Mexcel cables are highly resistant to physical stress and maintain high transmission characteristics at all times.
D.U.C.C.* 7N Cu is used as the main conductor. With a purity of 99.99999%, it is produced using a raw material manufacturing process equivalent to that used for semiconductors, which demands the highest level of quality assurance. The total metallic impurity content is strictly controlled and guaranteed to be 0.1 ppm or less. Additionally, even against the degradation of crystal structure caused by bending during use, stress-free processing, developed by AcroLink, ensures that the conductor remains in an optimal state. This is achieved through self-annealing at room temperature, preserving excellent transmission characteristics over time.

The larger the crystal grains in a conductor, the better the sound quality. D.U.C.C. (Dia Ultra Crystallized Copper) is a high-purity copper conductor for audio applications that has crystal grains that are tens of times larger than those of ordinary pure copper, and the orientation of the crystals has also been optimized.
Mastering-Grade Custom BNC Connectors: Engineering Know-How for Uncompromised Sound Quality
The 50Ω BNC connector, ideal for transmitting 10MHz clocks, was developed under the supervision of Masaya Tono, Chief Mastering Engineer at Esoteric Mastering Center. Every material used in each component was carefully selected through meticulous listening tests, with extensive auditions conducted by changing material combinations and plating to achieve the highest sound quality.
The hot signal center pin is crafted from solid phosphor bronze, a rare and expensive material known for its exceptional sound quality. For plating, 24K gold plating was chosen, as it delivers a warm and mellow sound, ideal for mastering classical music. To prevent sound quality variations due to magnetism, the gold plating is applied directly to the phosphor bronze center pin, without any nickel undercoating.
The cold signal shell is constructed from high-quality phosphor bronze and finished with “silver + rhodium” plating, ensuring superior signal integrity.
The connector tip that locks the 7N-DA6100ES connectors is made of duralumin, a material renowned for its excellent vibration-damping properties. Combined with a heavy-duty housing, it minimizes vibration at the cable-to-unit connection, further enhancing sound quality.
nified directionality. The larger the crystal grains, the smaller the crystal grain boundary (boundary between individual crystals), thus providing greater benefit in terms of sound quality.
